Deforestation in South America has been a major problem for too long a time. There are many farmers who have to cut down trees in order to support their crops. For example, The “Slash and Burn” agricultural technique is when farmers cut down trees to get the nutrients to help them farm their crops. After they got all of the nutrients to help, the farmers had to move to another ground of trees to redo the process again because the land that they were using is no help to them. The land takes up to 50 years to regrow the trees which makes the land of no use for that long.
We think that more scientists, experts, and specialist should become more involved in finding ways for farmers to cultivate their products without cutting down trees, as many of the South American farmers partaking in slash and burn are doing it out of momentary necessity. If we can find a way to help farmers in South America grow their products in time to provide for their families and villages without using environmentally damaging techniques, then there would be a lot less cause for deforestation.
If scientists start helping the farmer, then it will get out that scientists have found a great new way to plant their crops without having to cut down trees to get more new land to grow the crops. When this happens some people might find that interesting to see and might start wanting to help stop deforestation from what the scientists have come up with and with the scientists new information, they might want to learn more and help out more.
A lot of people can make a big difference. Some people contribute to help stop deforestation in major protests against the companies who use products that need to cut down trees. If some people don’t want to go that extreme, but want to make a difference, then they can help by reusing grocery bags instead of getting the paper bags so that the stores might stop using them because no one would use them or you could even make a little contribute to help by cutting down on using paper if they can. Since everyone uses computers these days for everything.

Deforestation Overview |
GoalWe are two 8th Graders who care about deforestation and our community. Our goal is to get peopled involved in helping stop deforestation. When we say stop deforestation we mean help the USA's deforestation decrease because this year the US is the 7th country with the highest deforestation rate. When we ask people to help we aren't looking for them to go all out and start a petition. We just want people to be informed in the US deforestation and help out, even in a small way like reusing grocery bags to stop people from buying the paper bags that is one of the most greatest ways that influence deforestation in the US.
